Lakesmere was appointed to install the cladding on two new administration buildings that form part of the new Terminal 5 development and by working closely with other members of the supply chain, the teams were able to deliver an efficient solution on time and to budget. The co-operation between the different specialist contractors also enabled Lakesmere to engineer and design the requirement for an inner-skin block wall.

The project is a positive example of the effectiveness of the former main contractor Taylor Woodrow’s highly organised Strategic Alliance Partnership (SAP), which promoted early involvement from each of the specialist contractors working on a project in order to efficiently address any potential problems before they arise. The SAP agreement, which Lakesmere was a part of, was recognised at the 2008 Quality In Construction Awards, which are organised by Construction News magazine, with the Terminal 5 development project team winning the award for ‘Supply Chain Integration’.
