Created as part of the ongoing regeneration of the River Clyde, Rendezvous is Scotland’s fifth and largest casino located at Glasgow’s popular leisure development Springfield Quay. The casino, designed by architects’ Crerar & Partners, is clearly visible on the approach to the city and is set to become one of the most popular attractions at the Quay. Also featuring a separate restaurant facility, the creation of the striking two-storey rectangular shaped building saw Lakesmere design and fit a CGL Rainscreen system to all four elevations and install a naturally curved Kalzip aluminium roof, with a range of complementary fabrications.

As the existing facilities at Springfield Quay were in use throughout the construction of the casino, the location of the site also presented various logistical challenges. With the banks of the River Clyde on one side and crowds of shoppers on the other, the Lakesmere team worked closely with main contractor Ardmore Construction to coordinate a schedule of works that would maximise efficiency yet minimise any disruption to the public.

Lakesmere has developed a proven track record of working in both the leisure and regeneration sectors following the completion of such landmark developments as the Xscape ski dome in Braehead and the Glasgow Fort shopping complex, which along with the new casino development at Springfield Quay, have contributed greatly to the regeneration of the River Clyde area.
