The John Dalton Tower is one of Manchester Metropolitan University's five campuses in the Manchester Area. As the contractor appointed to supply the complete external envelope, Lakesmere undertook the refurbishment of the entire building with extensions to the end and entrance elevations.

Lakesmere’s package comprised multi-product Interface solutions including Schüco windows and curtain walling, Spanwall composite and cladding systems, Sotech feature metal work cladding, traditional copper cladding, Kingspan cladding to plant room, Kalzip S shaped plant room roofing and membrane flat terraces.

The small site footprint and high specification finish of the John Dalton Tower also presented numerous challenges, in particular the need to source and construct a cladding system that could be installed quickly and meet the cost constraints of the budget. The successful delivery of the project is testimony to the excellent working relationship and teamwork between Lakesmere, Laing O’Rourke and the other trades on site.
